  • 400g can butter beans, drained
  • 2 tsp golden caster sugar

  1. Season the pork, working the seasoning in with your hands, then shape into small meatballs. Heat the oil in a large pan, add the meatballs and cook for 5 mins, until golden brown all over. Push to one side of the pan and add the onion and peppers. Cook for a further 5 mins, stirring now and then, until the veg has softened, then stir in the garlic and paprika. Stir everything around in the pan for 1 min, then add the tomatoes. Cover with a lid and simmer for 10 mins.

  2. Uncover, stir in the beans, the sugar and some seasoning, then simmer for a further 10 mins, uncovered. Just before serving, stir in the parsley. Serve with crusty bread for dunking, if you like.

Really easy to make and tasty. I added more meatballs than recommended but used the same amount of other ingredients to stretch to 4 portions.

Absolutely phenomenal, really tasty and filling. I added a couple of anchovies in the sauce and some tomato paste for extra flavour, and finished it with half a lemon. We had this with toasted whole meal pittas. Just amazing!

One of our favourites! I have made this several times, i usually add an extra pepper and extra meatballs and stretch it to four portions. Have found turkey mince also goes well if you fancy something a bit leaner. I often leave to simmer for 30mins or so before adding the beans etc and it is always fine for it A handy dish for adding extra veg that needs using up (courgettes, tomatoes and aubergine especially). Usually serve with bread though find it is hearty enough on its own too.

I've made this dish a couple of times and it is very tasty. I add chipotle paste, pearl barley and Heinz Tuscan Beans instead of butter beans.

Yum! Added cumin & garlic to the meatball mix. Added Harissa to the stew. Really delicious. I think it would love a few slices of chorizo to make it extra meaty. (ZERO CARBS AS WELL)

We (my husband, two kids and I) all really enjoyed this dish. I added a few additional flavours in such as oregano and a bit of spice (after taking the kids out). Next time I am going to make with chickpeas instead of the beans to try something but it did work well with the beans :) Will certainly do again.

Nice tasty dish, easy to make. I made it with quorn 'meat'balls, added them when I added the tomatoes as I'm veggie which worked well. Didn't find it watery, probably the key is to use good quality chopped tomatoes so they come with a thick sauce. Found it made 4 portions, not 3.

Made this last night and it's about to become a regular family favourite. Noted that Obe person complained about the meatballs being tasteless so added sone garlic , cumin and a few mixed herbs to the mince before making. Used a slightly bigger pack of mince as feeding two teenagers With this. Used a tin of mixed beans as had no butter beans. Went down a treat. All the family loved it - very tasty and filling. I served it with a spot if rice but next time will just serve it with a hunk if bread. Lovely !!!!
