  1. Put the potato wedges into a shallow microwave-proof baking dish, then cook on High for 10 mins until almost tender all the way through (turn the wedges halfway through to ensure even cooking). Add the broccoli, re-cover and cook for another 3 mins or until the florets just give with a knife. If you don’t have a microwave, boil instead.

  2. Heat grill to medium. Mix the crème fraîche and mustard together with a little seasoning. Nestle the salmon in among the potatoes and broccoli, then spoon over the crème fraîche mix, making sure most of the broccoli is covered with sauce. Sprinkle with the cheese and grill for 5 mins until the sauce is bubbling, the tips of the potatoes are golden and the salmon is just cooked.

Followed all the advice from previous comments about using the oven rather than microwave and using extra sauce. These additions did seem to help however overall it was disappointing and we didn't really enjoy it and it wasn't as quick and easy as initially appeared to be. Therefore I won't be making it again. The smoked mackerel and potato bake recipe on this site is much nicer.

Bit disappointing - turned out dry and quite bland. Don't think 200ml of crème fraiche is enough. Each element of the dish tasted okay but they just didn't come together in this recipe.

This dish is another perfect salmon meal for us. Loved its easiness and ingredients combination.

This was really scrummy, nice balance of tastes - my 1y old & hubby will surely confirm as they both cleaned their plates. I steamed the potatoes & broccoli (don't trust the microwave) and then grilled for ca. 10 mins as I wanted the cheese to become really nice'n'crispy. Unfortunately salmon was then bit on the dry side, but never mind, will definitely make again.

I took notice of the comments, so parboiled the potatoes, crisped them a bit in the oven and then cooked the rest in the oven too. It was delicious like this, and I'll certainly do it again. As usual with goodfood recipes, the 'for 4' pretty much served two of us.

It is not very often bbc good food disappoints me and I use it a lot but this recipe did not work for us at all. The potatoes took a lot longer than 10 minutes to cook in the microwave and the wholegrain mustard was totally overpowering. Also do not be fooled by the 10 mins cook time if you add up the timings in the recipe it comes to 18 mins but ours took far longer probably nearer 40 mins. The potatoes also made this dish quite dry as the crème fraiche is just a topping and not a 'sauce' as I expected. If I made it again I would boil the potatoes on the hob and put the whole thing in the oven for 10 mins to cook before browning under the grill unfortunately I don't think that is likely :-(

Following other reader comments, for 2 I used half the potato and salmon, added a good amount of broccoli, courgette, a small leek and some asparagus. I used 300ml of half fat creme fraiche with 2tbspn of wholegrain mustard and a sprinking of Pilgrims Punch Cheddar as I didn't have any parmesan. I parboiled the potatoes, steamed the veg and assembled in a large dish with creme fraiche mix and cheese. I baked it at 180deg for 15minutes. It was lovely. Just the right amount of mustard for us. The potates didn't really cook much more in the oven, so next time I'll boil for longer first as they were only just done. It perhaps didn't need the full 300ml of creme fraiche for the two of us but I think 200ml would be not quite enough. Will definitely make again though.

Very easy recipe which tasted lovely. Par boiled the potatoes and broccoli and then cooked the assembled dish in the oven for 15 minutes. I halved the quantity of potatoes, broccoli and salmon but still used 300mls creme fraiche and 2 tbsp mustard. Will definitely be making this one again.

Lovely recipe, very simple to cook. I par boiled the potatoes, steamed the broccoli for a few minutes and then cooked the assembled dish in the oven for 15 minutes. I halved the quantity of salmon, broccoli and potatoes as there are just two of us but still used a 300ml tub of creme fraiche and just under 2 tbsp mustard. Tasted lovely and will make again.

My kids loved this! Surprised me, I didn't think it was going to be winner. Very easy. Parboiled potatoes first.
