  1. Boil half a white or green cabbage until still slightly crisp. Toss in the sizzling butter with the lemon zest and poppy seeds. When it’s hot, finish with a squeeze of lemon juice.

We added peas -put them in the boiling water and cook for 2 or 3 minutes before adding the cabbage. This was an attractive side dish for cottage pie.

Served with parsnip/apple mash (http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/1687/flavoured-boiled-cabbage), went down well - even though I undercooked the cabbage a bit. But the picture really has nothing to do with the recipe.
