Method

  1. Boil the potatoes for 10 mins until tender. Meanwhile, heat the oil in a large saucepan. Season the meatballs, then brown them all over for about 5 mins. Remove from the pan, drain off any excess fat, then add the onion, garlic and rosemary. Fry gently for 5 mins.

  2. Add passata to the pan, bring to a simmer, then add the meatballs. Simmer for 5 mins or until everything is cooked through. Add the potatoes and peas, then simmer for 1 min. Pack into a flask or reheat at work, add Parmesan, if using, and eat with good crusty bread.

Really enjoyed this, but wouldn't say it was quite as 'speedy' to make as listed; prep & cooking both took a little longer, the meatballs in particular took longer to cook. BUT it was worth the extra cook time, the flavours were brill, and there was plenty for 2 main meals & a packed lunch. I substituted sweet potatoes for the regular, and served with some bulgar wheat. Will be coming back to this again!

absolutely loved this dish easy to make (i made it with aldi german meatballs )and have to say they are the best meatballs i have ever tasted ! i added more potatoes to bulk it up and served it with salad and garlic bread ! something always seams to go wrong when i cook but this turned out perfect :)

Made up some simple meatballs then followed this tasty recipe. Very filling so didn't really need the bread, and not quite juicy enough to justify it either. Really enjoyed by everyone.

Really yummy. Used mixed Italian herbs instead of rosemary and added a teaspoon of chilli. Also used frozen sweetcorn because I didn't have peas. Will definitely be making again, very filling.

Cooked the meatballs in the over(easier to get the fat out) and it's super delicious!! Fills you right up, excellent for dieters :)

I use Bbcgoodfood for most my recipes and have tried hundreds....this was by far the worst. Unless you love the taste over rosemary this dish was awful. We actually threw it away which we never do. Waste of time and money unless you have an addicted to rosemary!
