Method

  1. Mix the soy sauce, sherry, sugar and 2 tbsp water in a small bowl. Heat the oil in a large frying pan or wok, add the onion and beef, then stir-fry quickly until the beef is lightly browned. Tip out onto a plate.

  2. Add the broccoli and cashews to the pan, stir-fry for 1 min, then add the soy mixture. Bring to the boil, then cover and simmer for 5 mins until the broccoli is just tender.

  3. Tip the beef and onion back into the pan and heat through briefly before serving with noodles or rice.

Not overwhelmed by this, I substituted masala for the sherry and added red chilli, but still felt like it needed more 'punch' - garlic, ginger & lime probably neeeded.

After embelishing the sauce (with honey, ginger, garlic, chilli flakes and a dash of oyster sauce) and adding a few bits of red pepper for colour this made a very enjoyable beef stirfry

A great quick meal and tasty, took advise and doubled up on the sauce quantity, also added mushrooms. Loved the cashews with the beef. Will definatly make this again.

I liked this, but have only given it a 3 as I made a lot of changes. Doubled on the sauce, added garlic, ginger & chili, and changed the amounts in the sauce to taste. Didn't like the cashews with the beef at all.

I loved this. I have made this recipe a few times now and find it very adaptable to whatever veg you have in the house. Mushrooms go very well with this, as do carrots.

loved this meal it was quick and easy and the hole family loved it. I doubled up on the water and soy sauce and used noodles.will make it again.

not a fan of stir fry's but was looking for somthing to make using frying steak so thought i'd make this . will be making again for sure . will try adding mushroom.& other veg like peas or pak cho.or what ever i have in fridge. as above could try it with noodles instead of rice.

Nice - I took the suggestion of making a bit more sauce as both me and my partner don't like things too dry. I mixed in my noodles once cooked too. Tasty and quick evening meal.
