  1. Put the butter in a 1-litre baking dish and microwave on High for 30 secs-1 min until melted. Add 1½ bananas, mash into the melted butter, then add the sugar, flour, cinnamon, eggs and milk. Mix together well.

  2. Slice the remaining banana over the top, then return to the microwave and cook on High for 8 mins until cooked through and risen. Serve warm, dusted with icing sugar, if you like, with a drizzle of toffee sauce and a scoop of ice cream.

My 7 year old Daughter wanted a pudding & my cooker isn't working. So the Microwave, old bananas & goodfood to the rescue. She read the recipe & we made it together, so easy and quick. So she didn't get bored. Yummy with ice cream. My daughter gives this 10 stars out of 5.

Made this tonight as I have a ton of overripe bananas. Followed the recipe as written, came out lovely, a big hit with husband and toddler. Quite sweet, could probably reduce the sugar and it would still taste delicious, but I did use very ripe (black) bananas which may have increased the sweetness. I had no custard or ice cream in the house so we ate with a bit of toffee sauce - was just fine, but I imagine with ice cream it would be even better.

I had half a banana to use and was toying between this and caramel sauce with ice-cream. I made the right choice! I did half quantities, 4mins in microwave, and cut a kiwi on top instead of banana. Tasted amazing!

We love this pudding, it is sooo easy to put together and very comforting. I have done this a few times now and I've managed to prep it in the middle of cooking the Sunday roast. I have microwaved and oven baked it with equally good results.

Very tasty and as others have said, so easy, no hassle quick dessert. Think I will try this method substituting treacle or ginger instead of banana.

I object to running my oven for an hour to 'save wasting' bananas. This recipe is excellent and with custard it was a real hit. I may also experiment with some chocolate chips next time.

So chuffed I found this recipe- so so much quicker than making banana bread to use up old bananas! I used two whole bananas in the mix and a third banana sliced on top. I put a tsp vanilla extract and mixed spice instead of just cinnamon- delicious! Next time will try adding choc chips and/or cocoa.

I made this tonight and I can't believe how simple and yummy it is! It was so quick to make and tasted lovely. I think it's provably a little too sweet for me so I'll try it with a little less sugar next time. Highly recommend it!
