Method

  1. Heat oven to 220C/fan 200C/gas 7. Heat half the oil in a roasting tray, then brown the steaks on both sides and set aside. Toss the potato, onion, remaining oil and half the rosemary into the roasting tray, then lay the steaks on top. Brush the steaks with the mustard, scatter with remaining rosemary and roast everything for 20 mins until the potatoes are softened and the lamb cooked.

Made this as stated, used a mandolin to slice the sweet potatoes thinly and had no prob with the timings. My lamb steaks I took out the fridge in advance so they were not cold going into the pan and I let it rest a little before serving. Used fresh rosemary. Served with tender stem broccoli. It was very lovely--so nice to have a tasty, easy dish on the list with only a few ingredients and that is not loaded with garlic.

Really enjoyed this. Agree need to cook vegetables longer before putting on the lamb. I made a jus ( posh gravy) red onions/ red wine /beef oxo/ and a bit of bisto. All went down very well !

I made this meal, but with a red wine/beef stock reduction. I feel it would have been very dry and quite boring without this sauce. Use the pan the lamb steaks are fried in: Add finely chopped garlic, rosemary, thyme, 200ml red wine, 200ml beef stock. Turn the heat up high and reduce until it begins to thicken and add 25-50g butter to finish.

Ok this recipe was easy and sOOOOo tasty. My husband LOVED it and he's very picky. I cooked the veggies in the oven for 10-15 mins before adding the lamb and it came out perfect. I was worried the lamb would be dry but it was so juicy. The combination of the rosemary and the mustard seeds was just divine. I browned the lamb for 1-2 mins on each side and popped it on top the veggies for an additional10 mins in the oven. I did add carrots, 4 cloves of whole garlic and marinaded the lamb with only salt and pepper for about 20mins before I browned it. I made mint sauce to accompany the lamb, but it really wasn't necessary as the veggies and lamb was so flavourful.. I will definitely be making this again. Thank you :) :)

Quick, easy and really tasty. I added carrots for some extra vegetable vitamins. Unfortunately I didn't slice the potatoes or the carrots thinly enough so I needed extra cooking time. I'll know better for next time, or might put the veg ion for a bit before adding the meat!

Found the lamb to be a little on the dry side, so when I reheated the left-overs, I did it in a frying pan with some double cream - delicious!
