Method

  1. Heat a large non-stick pan, add the beef then fry over a medium-high heat until browned, stirring often and breaking up any lumps with a spoon. Crumble in the stock cube and mix well.

  2. Add the vegetables, stir to mix with the beef and pour in enough boiling water (about 1.3 litres) to cover. Bring to the boil, then lower the heat and stir well. Cover the pan and simmer gently for about 30 mins or until the vegetables are tender.

  3. Tip in the baked beans, sprinkle with Worcestershire sauce or Tabasco to taste, stir well and heat through. Taste for seasoning and sprinkle with parsley. Serve with extra Worcestershire sauce or Tabasco, for those who like a peppery hot taste.

This is a great meal which is very easy, very cheap and turns out really tasty. I followed the recipe but simply cut the amounts down to make less (but tried to keep the ratios roughly the same). I used worcestershire sauce for mine and also added a few gravy granules and plenty of seasoning to make it extra yummy. Served it with bread rolls warm from the oven and it went down a treat. Far tastier than I expected!

Really excellent mid-week supper. Cook ours in the slow cooker so the veg is wonderfully tender. Boyfriend adores it. Even better when reheated the next day!

I'm not sure why everyone's raving about this one. I thought it was awful. Like hospital food, only worse. Not a good recipe for those who enjoy full-flavoured meals.

Yum yum yum - gobbled up by all the children too. I used left over roast beef that had dried out a little and it was quick and easy and delicious.

A super casserole for all the family to enjoy on a winter's cold day. All in one pan is the best I know of, less to wash. This is a hit with all my family.
