  • 100g milk or dark chocolate, broken into chunks
  • 3 tbsp golden syrup

  • 100g cornflake

Method

  1. Children: Weigh out the ingredients. Older children can do this by themselves with supervision and little ones can help to pour or spoon ingredients into the weighing scales. Put the butter, chocolate and golden syrup in a saucepan or microwavable bowl. Put the cornflakes in another large bowl.

  2. Grown ups: Melt the butter, chocolate and golden syrup in the saucepan over a low heat or briefly in the microwave. Allow to cool a little before pouring over the cornflakes.

  3. Children: Stir the ingredients together gently using a wooden spoon. Spoon the mixture into 12 cupcake cases arranged on a muffin tray (or baking sheet, if you don’t have one). Grown ups will need to do this for younger children or simply arrange on a tray and let the mess happen. Put in the fridge to set.

Very easy to make with my 2 year old. Very tasty but agree the amount of chocolate needs to be doubled.

This is a new concept to me. Sounds easy and thus perfect for xmas dinner at my sons school. Could anyone tell me how long they need to be in the fridge to set? Thanks

No idea why this has 4 stars; as others have commented, the ratio is way off. Suggest doubling the amount of chocolate.

I have always made these using drinking chocolate powder. Make little ones in small muffin cases. Only problem is hiding them from the adults before the kids get to them!

I have made these for years. In my recipe I use cocoa powder, peanut butter, corn syrup, and corn flakes. Love!

I think the other reviewers are right - it doesn't cover the conrflakes like the picture but it still tastes really good and its enough sugar, butter and chocolate for kids so pretty spot on if you ask me. I added some chopped up glace cherries simply to make the activity last a little longer with my 3 year old twins - they enjoy snipping the cherries up with their scissors. Great recipe for kids as there is no egg so they can try and taste all the way through with no worries. Some of them even made it to the fridge!

I made these for my daughter's sports day picnic. Add a little extra chocolate and stir well with a metal spoon. Perfect result. Maybe other users leaving bad reviews should just eat a chocolate bar!

The cakes in the picture obviously weren't made using this recipe, not enough chocolate to adequately cover the chocolate.
