The best & easy onion Bhajees

  • 8oz gram flour
  • 1-2 teaspoon chilli powder (depends how hot you like it)
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 large onions (finely sliced)
  • 7fl oz water
  • Oil for frying
  • Sesame seeds


    1. Mix the dry ingredients into a bowl and mix well
    2. Add the sliced onions and mix well
    3. Add the water and mix well
    4. Drop heaped spoons of the onion batter into the oil (make these as small or large as you like, I find usually a heaped spoon full is just right)
    5. Fry them a few at a time 5-6 mins each, or till nicely browned, pop onto kitchen roll (to drain some of the fat) and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
