Method

  1. Cook the pasta in boiling salted water for 8 minutes. Add the beans and cook for a further 3 minutes until both the pasta and beans are just tender. Meanwhile, tip the tuna and its oil into a bowl and flake the fish, keeping the pieces quite large. Stir in the lemon zest, capers, chilli and plenty of salt and pepper.

  2. Drain the pasta and beans, return them to the pan and toss with the tuna mixture. Add a little olive oil if you need to moisten everything. Serve the tuna and lemon pasta on its own or with a tomato and onion salad.

Im not the biggest fan of tuna but decided to give this recipe a go because of all the positive reviews and im so pleased i did, it was fantastic! I tweaked it abit tho, I used peas instead of beans and as I only had tuna in brine in the storecupboard I drained it really well and added extravirgin olive oil. I also felt it needed a squeeze of the lemon aswell as the zest. I also made double so will be having it as a cold pasta salad for lunch today :)

Love the idea but felt there was too much pasta and not enough of the other ingredients, which made it a bit bland. Maybe halving the amount of pasta and just making it a meal for two would be better. May try again.

really tasty and quick. I added halved cherry tomatoes and doubled the quantities for lunch the following day. Will do again and it is so easy.

Anyone watch Hugh Fernely Whittingstalls Fish fight on Channel 4 last week or seen the Greenpeace tinned tuna league table? http://www.greenpeace.org.uk/tunaleaguetable Make sure you use pole and line caught tuna for this dish rather than that has been caught using large nets which kill dolphins, turtles and sharks as by-catch. pole and line tuna can be found at sainsbury's, marks & spencer and waitrose but unsure about the others...

This is a great recipe, and I'm not even a big fan of tuna. I boiled a couple of eggs in with the pasta, and chopped them into big chunks and stirred them in too, which worked really well. Delicious.
