Spicy stew, a real winter warmer that is easy to prepare & cook

  • 15ml vegetable oil
  • 8 sausages
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 1 tbsp chilli seasoning (mild or hot to taste)
  • 500g passata
  • 200g chopped tomatoes
  • 15ml Worcester sauce
  • 1 tbsp wholegrain mustard
  • 100g button mushrooms
  • 400g kidney beans
  • Small carton sour cream
  • 2 spring onions, chopped


    1. Heat the oil in a large saucepan, add sausages and onions, fry gently until sausages are browned
    2. Add chilli seasoning, passata, tomatoes and mushrooms; simmer for a further 15 minutes to reduce and thicken
    3. Stir in beans and cook gently for a further 5 minutes
    4. Take off the heat, swirl in sour cream and sprinkle with chopped spring onions. Serve with mashed potatoes

A good recipe, quick, easy and tasty, but there is no mention of when to add the mustard and Worcester sauce.

Really yummy - the sour cream makes it. Ignored the passata and just used a whole can of chopped tomatoes instead. Served with carrot and swede mash.
