  • 4 tbsp ketchup
  • 4 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 3 tbsp soft brown sugar
  • 4 tbsp sweet chilli sauce
  • 4 tbsp dark soy sauce
  • 1kg chicken wings
  • 1 small white cabbage, shredded
  • 3 large carrots, grated

  • 8 tbsp light salad cream or mayonnaise

Method

  1. Heat oven to 200C/180C fan/gas 6. In a large bowl, mix the ketchup, garlic, sugar, half the sweet chilli sauce and the soy sauce with some seasoning. Tip in the wings and toss to combine so that they are all coated. Transfer to a large roasting tray or two smaller ones, in a single layer. Roast for 35-40 mins until cooked through and golden.

  2. Meanwhile, make the slaw. Mix the vegetables with remaining chilli sauce, salad cream or mayo and seasoning. Pile the wings onto a large platter and transfer the slaw to a serving bowl. Let everyone dig in and help themselves.

Didn't bother with the coleslaw just bought it from the shop and used chicken breast instead of wings as that's what I had in the freezer! Tasted absolutely amazing and have already been requested for dinner again this week. Also served with wedges. Went down a treat!

I have made these wings and the coleslaw so many times, actually most Saturdays. If my dinner guests know I am serving these they go crazy. I don't alter any of the ingredients for the wings but for the coleslaw I add garlic salt, and 2 tbsp of white wine vinegar. I always serve mine nachos consisting of tortilla chips, guacamole, salsa, sour cream and chive, red onion diced small and loads of grated cheddar.... Absolutely AMAZING.....

I made this last night, and it was AMAZING! Alterations I made were: - I used legs and thighs not wings, because they are meatier. I therefore had to cook them for about 5-10 minutes longer, and they could have gone a bit longer if I'd wanted them crispy. - I substituted one spoon of brown sugar for one of honey. - I used garlic puree rather than garlic cloves. - I added one fresh diced chilli. This still did not make it spicy! Just a bit warmer. Glad I did - will probably add two next time! I served this with couscous, which I cooked in chicken stock, and corn on the cob. Absolutely delicious meal and minimal effort. So easy! Pretty inexpensive too if you're going to use the ingredients again. 10/10!

Tasty wings that I'm going to serve cold tomorrow. Didn't do the coleslaw but the chicken is delicious.

I've made this a few times now, the only alteration to the recipe I make is that I add diced fresh chilli to the marinade. I don't bother with the slaw, I serve the chicken with more of the marinade and some long grain rice since the sauce goes really well with rice.

Wings were very tasty. We found the whole raw onion a little overpowering in the slaw, will only add about a quarter of a grated onion next time. Good recipe though

Really easy weekday meal. I've never made the slaw as I'm not a fan of it but the wings and the marinade are delicious. I often use drumsticks and thighs as well.

This recipe is the one :) I added a bit of hot pepper sauce for an extra kick and a little honey and the wings got sweeter and chillier :)
