  1. Heat the olive oil in a frying pan. Fry the garlic until golden, then add the tomatoes. Season, then simmer for 10 mins. Stir in mascarpone, then cook for 2 mins more.

  2. Meanwhile, boil the gnocchi according to pack instructions. Add the spinach for the final min of cooking. Drain well, pour back into the pan, then stir the sauce through. Mix well and serve immediately with basil leaves and Parmesan shavings scattered over, if you like.

We loved this recipe! The only thing I changed was to add a chopped up Italian chili.

Like others I added bacon as suggested. I found this dish overly heavy and fatty, especially with the mascarpone. Next time I'll use some low fat Phili instead. Definitely a decadent dish.

There were a few comments about this being a bland recipe so I decided to kick it up a notch when I made it. I used chili oil to brown the garlic and added cayenne. I also chopped up black olives and basil to simmer in the sauce. There was nothing bland about this recipe!! It was delicious :-)

Found this recipe very bland, which is a shame because some of the other gnocchi recipes on this site are very tasty.

Love this recipe. I add a frozen red chilli cube to the sauce for a kick and it's perfect.

Made this for our tea the other night. So far this is my favourite veggie recipe from this website. Very easy and so yummy.

First time ever making a recipe using gnocchi - we loved it! I doubled the recipe but still used only 1 handful of torn basil, and really large garlic cloves - really simple, quick and delicious. I would like to try using the cream cheese spread next time as others have suggestion to help keep the cost down - I think it would taste okay that way, also.

Wasn't keen on this. I like gnocchi recipes but the spinach didn't bind into the rest of the sauce. Also found it quite stodgy.
