"Jeannie960 - I usually make the cake in October and cover it the week before Christmas. This gives me plenty of time to feed it with more whisky. I expect you could cover it earlier, but the more you feed it, the moister it is."

"Best gingerbread recipe ever! Although I do add 2 - 3 tsp of ginger 'cause I like my gingerbread gingery. I've been using this recipe for ages to make all sorts of gingerbread biscuits and it's never failed."

"Very sophisticated Christmas cupcakes. I couldn't get chestnut puree so I whizzed up some chestnuts in a processor instead which gave the cakes a nutty texture as well. They went down well at work, especially with colleagues with gluten intolerance."

"Made this with leftover Christmas pudding for a Boxing Day buffet and guests were very impressed. The filo pastry cracked a little which gave it an unintentional "yule log" effect! Would be tempted to add more Bailey's next time as I couldn't really taste it and thought that it would be an interesting flavour with Christmas pudding."
