As-you-like-it Christmas cake

"Well, I'm not entirely sure what I did different but mine actually took substantially less time than the recipe stated! Can't taste it until Christmas but it looks and smells delicious (and I did pinch just a teeeeeny weeny bit from the corner that was very tasty indeed). What's more, it was easy to make - excellent criteria if this is someone's first Christmas cake - like me! :D Well recommended! I can't wait to get icing in a week or two now!"

"This is a lovely dish. Easy to make, wholesome and warming. Everyone around my dinner table this evening enjoyed it but next time, I'm definitely going to try the tip of using diced lamb instead of chops. Since lamb chops are so small, it seems like to didn't get much of it!"

"Delicious and simple! I used blueberries, since that was what I had. Nobody really fancied dessert until I plonked the sauce on the table and then everyone was clambering for a bit of cake! I will definitely be making this again, with a variety of berries I'm sure!"

"I had a few disasters - my piping bag burst open and I had hell of a job spreading the frangipane without it mixing into the cream below and I forgot to keep any of the lemon cream to mix into the topping, so I made a chantilly cream to go on top. I used blackberries instead of raspberries, since I could pick the blackberries from my garden. Despite the disasters, this was an absolutely delicious pudding. I have cooked for the same 7 people every Wednesday for the last year or so and the general consensus was that this was the best pudding I had ever served them. Highly recommended. "
