"Superb recipe! Left out the kidneys (no one likes them) but the results were still great and the cooking time was spot on. I don't think I would use shop-bought dripping again as this is quite unhealthy and didn't in my opinion add much to the dish, but this definitely got the 'cook again' vote in my house!"

    Roquefort toasts with peppered pears

    Tested

"This recipe is a fantastic dinner party starter. The balance of the cheese mix and the sweetness of the pears underpinned by the peppercorns makes for a gorgeous combination. I actually used French toast (bread with crust cut off, coated with olive oil and baked in the oven) to add an additional touch of sophistication and the results were excellent. Easy to make for large numers of people in a short time. Could not recommend more! "

"I couldn't get caramelised onions, so I used Sainsbury's pork and red onion sausages instead and the flavour was wonderful. This recipe is a lot of effort - especially if one struggles like me to cook things simultaneously - but the outcome is absolutely wonderful and well worth the time. I halved the recipe but still had enough for big portions for six people. Brilliant!!"

"This is a great recipe. Easy to make and very nice served hot. Then extremely nice served cold. Delicious and thoroughly recommended."
