"Wow, saw this cake in the original Good Food mag and can't believe I waited so long to make it! Made it last night and couldn't believe how easy it was - kept thinking I'd done something wrong. I've just tasted it and cannot believe how light and lovely it is. I also added chopped up chocolate to the cake and listened to others so added the rind of 2 oranges to the cake and made quite alot of syrup which I drizzled over (after I'd pierced the cake). One of the nicest cakes I've made, will definately doing this on a regular basis as it's so quick and easy"

"This is a regular recipe in my house and always a real favourite. I always use vanilla extract and use a couple of teaspoons as I really like the taste. I also use nutmeg, cinnamon or mixed spice - whatever I've got in the cupboard and use demerara sugar on the top as I don't always have soft brown sugar. I do think this recipe is quite flexible as long as you stick to the basics."

"I baked this cake this afternoon - didn't have any ground cinnamon so used mixed spice. Also took about 15 mins more than stated time in my fan oven but well worth the wait. Really lovely - have had many compliments. Just had with a cup of tea but can imagine will taste lovely with some custard. Will definately make again."
