"Really lovely. Definitely use some carrot too - always gives a nice sweetness. Used dried tarragon (added at the outset), 2% Total yoghurt and added a tin of white beans at the end. Will be making often. "

Almond raisin cake with sherry
22 comments
"I had high hopes of this recipe given the previous reviews, but like the one other negative reviewer I found the taste to be dominated by the oil and also the sherry - warm out of the oven it was particularly unpleasant. It has improved with cooling but I still can't decide if it actually tastes nice. It certainly isn't anything special or that I will be making again. I made it as a present but have had to make another one from a different recipe instead."

Sticky stem ginger cake with lemon icing

"This is fab and gets better with time - it kept for well over a week with no problems at all except for getting gooey and more delish. I made it even more moist and yum by pricking holes all over it and pouring in the syrup from the stem ginger as you would with a drizzle cake - it worked really well and made it so that you could really have served at a pudding if you wanted, with something like mascapone or creme fraiche. Was loved by everyone."

"Lovely, although I will probably cook for less time to get a pinker finish next time."

Dauphinoise potatoes

"This was nice but I would make two comments - I made the quantities as per the recipe but despite having 6 hungry people for dinner, there was loads left. I would say that this is enough for 8 - 10 people. Also, I think if you take the garlic out as suggested there is hardly any garlic taste. I left it in (chopped) and the flavour was still very mild. next time I would probaly double the amount of garlic and leave it in."
