Banana tarte tatin
4 comments
"I've just done something similar and only just found this recipe. I had three really soggy bananas that I though were only good for the bin and used them for a tatin. I greased and lined a 20cm cake tin, put approx 100g dark sugar in and pressed it down firmly, layered bananas on top then put a circle of (leftover) puff pastry on the top. Brushed it with butter and put in the oven (180C) for about 35mins - until pastry golden. left it to cool and then turned it out onto a plate - it is delicious and so easy! I've rated this recipe as although I didn't use this one - it is so incredibly similar to mine."

"I enjoyed this but found it a little bland. I didn't use as much chilli as recommended but mine were very hot! I found that adding a squirt of tomato puree lifted it a bit. But as it it was served with Lamb Saag and my own verson of vegetable biryani, the 'blandness' didn't matter too much. If I was eating it on its own I think I would have to experiment with the flavours."

"Really tasty. I cooked it for a lot longer than the recipe said - but it is one of those dishes that can simmer in the oven until ready - so great for a dinner party. The lamb just fell apart. I added a tin of tomatoes which worked well."

"I used courgette & 1 leek (as it was leftover in the fridge) Also I didn't have any ricotta so used boursin cheese. How can such a simple recipe taste so good! Lovely!!!!!"

"Sorry - this didn't really work for me. The lamb was soft but the dish seemed to be lacking any depth of flavour. In fact I ended up adding tomato puree and a homemade spicy chutney in an attempt to give it more oomph! It wasn't horrible but I won't make it again."
