Proper beef, ale & mushroom pie

"Made this for dinner last night. Didn't use the porcini mushrooms but was still absolutely delicious. Made the full meat recipe, froze half; made all the pastry but only used 4/5 for the pie; used 20cm pie dish and was more than enough for 4 adults."

"Have just made this - really quick and yummy. Added 2 cloves of garlic and some watercress as well as a bit of ketchup to sweeten it a bit. I didn't add the cream; blitzed it in the food processor. Even my usually fussy son liked it."

"Made this at the weekend. Left out the eggs and used coley instead of cod fillets. It was really nice and would definitely make this again."
