    Schooldays treacle sponge

    "Made this and it was easy and delicious. One thing though make sure the cover is tight on as initially just used the plastic lid that came with my basin and after 1.5 hrs it was still raw so put tin foil and parchment under the lid and put the lid back on as didn't have string. Took ages in the end, but was delicious and went very well with the homemade custard. "

    "My first custard. Very easy, came out perfectly. I added some of the milk mixture into the yolk mixture till a bit liquidy then poured it back in the pan with the rest and didn't clean the pan or strain. It came out perfectly smooth. Still too sweet with 75g sugar. I would suggest 40g, after all it's better to add more if you find you need it, you can't take it out once it's in ;-)"

    "Absolutely delicious. Had this with BBQ. Substituted lime with lemon as didn't have a lime. I used baby sweetcorn too. Definitely making this again! "

    "Great recipe, agree with all that's been said above. I did use ham instead of bacon though as with all that cream, eggs and cheese I wanted something lean, it worked really well. Also, there was plenty left over for lunch tomorrow so would say it would easily serve 3 people."
