"I couldnt get hold of buttermilk when making this cake, so used cream instead, i followed this recipe step by step and was really disappointed it came out really dry and didnt rise at all. Is it vital to have the buttermilk i guess this is what went wrong with mine..? As all all the great comments prove it is a delicious cake. Id like to have another go id appreciate if anyone could give me some advice as to whether the buttermilk is where i went wrong thanks"
