"I tried this to go with a roast bacon joint. Both myself (and I can usually eat most things) and my family all thought it was beyond disgusting. Mine turned out really pale (although the cheesy top browned up well enough), and had the consistency of scrambled egg. It truly tasted of nothing. The cheesy top was nice - but that was as far as it went. I can only think I did something wrong, or something was left out of the recipe!"

"This was billed as "Dead Good Spaghetti Carbonara" and I have to say right from the start, that it truly was. In fact, it was awesome. Of course, its not the type of meal one could or would have EVERY day, probably not even once a month, but every so often or for a special treat. Ooooh yes!! I was nervous about putting the cold cream/egg/cheese mixture in on top of hot pasta - I felt it would cool it too much, plus I was worried about the egg turning to scrambled egg before my very eyes - but, it did neither. This was really the alchemy of cooking in action. :-) To have made a "real" Carbonara, and to have had it a success, I almost feel like I'm beginning to know how to cook. :-)"

"Very easy to do and very yummy to eat! Perfect for watching the X-Factor, with a plate in one hand and a fork in the other. LOL I added garlic, because we can't do without it and chilli to liven up the heat, plus some sliced mushrooms and green beans cut to about 1" long. Padded it out sufficient for three of us - with a spoonful left over for the dogs, who said it was very delicious, too."

"I didn't much fancy boiling the prawns - I felt you'd be throwing a lot of the prawn flavour away with the pasta water. Also, I felt it would need the added depth of a little sauted onion, so I added the prawns to the onion once it was transparent but not coloured. I then added the creme fraiche and seasoned with lots of black pepper, then added that to the pasta. I mixed the Rocket through at the last minute. I thought it was lovely, my son thought it was lovely, but my husband - well, it made him heave! So, not 100% successful there!"

"I found this was a really good recipe to use up the other half of a roast chicken - which is always a puzzle, in our house! I left out the bacon and put in the cold roast chicken. Went down extremely well, was easy peasy to do - so will definitely come again."
