"It doesn't say to take the pan off the heat before adding the cornflour mixture. I added it while still boiling and got a big solid lump of cornflour. I stirred off the heat until cooled and added to the pastry case, seiving out the lumps, but still looking very runny. Luckily it set in the oven and turned out very nice!"

Roast duck legs with red wine sauce

    Tested

"I have made this twice now and the duck cooked beautifully each time. I used cranberry sauce instead of redcurrant as I don't like all the little pips in it. I didn't like the taste of the wine in the sauce but that may be because I don't drink, and the sauce was very thin. Next time I will try using stock instead and thickening with a little cornflour. "I did half the recipe as there are only two of us. I used 200ml of milk as I thought it seemed a lot and it made the dough very sticky, so added another tbsp of flour which was perfect. I added grated cheddar as well as mozzerella for extra cheesiness which I love. I used cherry tomatoes and sliced the courgette lengthways with a potato peeler as I wasn't sure it would be cooked in the time and used mushrooms instead of artichokes. The finished pizza rose beautifully but made the base too thick for my liking. Might try again using plain flour for a thinner base. Over all, very tasty."

    Celeriac, potato & rosemary gratin

"Delish! Just be careful not to let the cream/milk mixture boil over as I did when I took my eye off it while slicing the veg! What a mess. "

"I don't really like peas but enjoyed this very much. I cooked the peas in the microwave, used a chopped onion and sauted in oil and butter until soft then added the peas to warm through, then the lettuce. Nice for a change."
