Wedding cake - rich dark chocolate cake

"unfortunately, this one was an expensive disaster. i am pretty sure i followed the recipe to the exact letter, yet after 3 hours in my (very reliable) oven, the cake was still not cooked. after 3.5 hours the tester was coming out clean so I let it cool. when later cutting to start the filling process i was dismayed to find that large soggy parts still werent cooked properly - too late to go back in the oven - too raw to expect anyone to eat... it was my mum's 60th birthday cake and it was too late in the day to start again. just cant work out what went wrong :("

Griddled chicory with figs & bitter leaves

"Really loved the salty, sour, bitter & sweet mix of the key ingredients in this light starter - make sure you get a bit of them all on a forkful to really appreciate the sensation. Next time I make it Im going to try warming the figs a bit too."

Quick chocolate & nut cake

"Easy to make but far too rich for "cake" or pudding (I can take a lot of sweetness but found this only edible in small fudge-chunk pieces). Cant see why it needs the extra sugar at all, if I made it again (which I cant justify having just spotted the horrific calorie content!) Id definately leave that out."

"what next? "For a really clever, time-saving cheat, just order a take-away and put it on a plate" Would that qualify as a "recipe" too? "
