"Lovely dish! I swapped the tomatoes for leeks and added garlic, and it was delicious! One problem though was the chicken stock -I used the right amount of cubes to get 700ml of stock, but found it dominated the dish. Next time I'll make it a bit weaker - or try fresh stock. But I definitley will be making it again."

"I made these as really tasty snacks for my daughter to take to school. Following others' advice, I only used 90g sugar, and low fat yoghurt instead of buttermilk. I also left out the cinnamon and added orange zest instead. The school doesn't allow nuts, so I added more dried fruit instead - apricot, apple, cranberries - all soaked in warm orange juice first to plump them up. And obviously I substituted the sunflower oil for a different type, as so many sites now tell us not to cook with it. Baked them in mini muffin tins, and they turned out wonderful! I keep them in the freezer and add them to the school lunchbox a couple of times a week. Super-healthy and delicious!"

    Better-than-baked beans with spicy wedges

    Tested

"Not so keen on the wedges - prefer the 'Cook Yourself Thin' version of potatoes, egg white and chilli. However, the beans were absolutely gorgeous! It's quite unbelievable how something so simple can taste so good! A definite winner!"

"Fab recipe and easy to adapt to your storecupboard ingredients. I've tried garlic, tinned chilli beans, left-over baked beans (!), various cheeses, onions, tuna, bacon... Whatever you have - just throw it in. There are never any left-overs! Great weekend treat."

"Great dish! Made my own oven chips (potatoes mixed with egg white and chilli powder instead of oil) which worked really well and saved on calories. Made the tuna version for myself which was lovely, and the ham for my daughter which was even better! Will definitely become a regular for comfort food."
