Ultimate apple pie

"I made this last evening to use up some Bramley apples I was given. It was the best pastry I have ever made and I am going to use it for my mince pies at Christmas - hope it won't make it all too rich. I didn't alter the quantities in any way and felt that it was just right. Next time I might try with cloves instead of cinnamon or put some blackberries in to ring the changes."

"This is a lovely recipe and the second year I've made it. I just wish our redcurrants yielded more berries so that I could make more. I didn't have any fresh chilli so substituted pureed chilli and I had no fresh ginger so substituted ground but the outcome was still delicious. "

"I made this using Serrano ham, everyone was impressed and my husband wants to have it again soon. Would be ideal when you have visitors for lunch as the recipe can easily be increased/varied."

Crispy new potato bake

"Made this last night with Charlotte potatoes (home grown, using all the tiny ones that you have to dig up but usually throw away). It was lovely even though I didn't have any stoned olives to hand so left them out (life's too short to stone olives) but it was still lovely."
