    One-pot chicken & bacon stew

    Tested

"Fab recipe, nice & easy and loved by all the family. Great from the freezer too. I don't cook with salt so found it a little salty even though I didn't add any. May be because I used Finest smoked bacon lardons. Will try a less salty bacon next time."

"Hi Matt - I don't think so. I always make my Christmas cake in October. Looking at this recipe (which I plan to make this year) I can't see that it differs that much from most Christmas cake recipes. The chefs on TV recommend making your cake in Oct to allow plenty of time for the cake to mature, especially if you are going to feed it with brandy."

"I've given this cake a high rating as it went down a storm with my entire family. I won't be making it again this year though as I found the saffron a bit strong - personal taste. I had to cook it for an hour longer than the recipe suggested but it turned out well. I marzipaned & iced my cakel. Going to try the figgy christmas cake recipe this year :)"

Christmas pudding with citrus & spice

    Tested

"I made this last year and will now be making it every year. As per many of the previous comments, I am not a fan of Christmas pudding either but was converted by this recipe. It is light and delicious, whilst still being very fruity. I left out the almonds as I don't like them when cooked. I made one large pudding and one smaller pudding last time as there was loads of mixture, enough to feed the five thousand! So I am going to try halving the ingredients this year as I only have a small family."
