"really good..definitely need a lot less wine/water..i'd probably go with less water next time, maybe 50ml water 150ml wine. i maybe cut the carrots too big based on some comments so definitely need to be sugarcube sized. i also added 2 pinches of chilli flakes and a pinch of paprika. did half spuds/have sweet potatoes and added a chopped garlic clove to the mash. perfect winter warmer and doesnt take too long. will definitely make again. "made this tonight after seeing it on the front page today. absolutely lovely. next time id use a little less chilli even though i like things hot, the fennel seeds and half a tsp chill flakes would do. the potatoes were delicious! "

"tasty enough but have a way nicer (but similar) recipe that i got from a sunday newspaper magazine. this is the best carbonara recipe ever (sorry bbc good food) cook 200g wholegrain spaghetti as per packet instructions. fry smoked bacon (or pancetta) first til a bit crispy and then add onions and garlic (i put in 3 cloves as i love it). cook the onions and garlic til soft and sweet. add in 25mls of white wine and put up to a high heat and fry til most of the wine has evaporated. then turn off the heat (or turn down very low). mix 3 egg yolks (only), 150ml of cream (double for a special occasion), 2 tablespoons of parsley, a couple of pinches of nutmeg, 50g of parmesan and and lots of black pepper. toss the eggy creamy mixture in the drained pasta and then add the pancetta. season with a bit of salt and pepper and serve with a sprinkle of parmesan, parsely and nutmeg. you're welcome! :)"

"a lot of effort but worth it for a special occasion, i went a bit too heavy on the spices (but thats my own taste) so i'd say a pinch for each (unless you really love cinnamon etc) seemed to take about 45-50 minutes to brown the top for me (but that could be my oven) the frangipane, so good! will be adding this to other cakes/tarts! Definitely one to go on the christmas dinner party list! "
