  • My last supper would be... Probably something with mushrooms and cheese...
  • My fool proof recipe is... A greek style lamb casserole with new potatoes, lemon and feta. Delicious every time. The recipe was from Good Food but it has disappeared. Glad I cut it out of the mag!
  • My favourite utensil is... My potato ricer.
  • If I am not cooking I'm... watching food programmes, reading about food, finding recipes, buying ingredients...
  • The best meal I've eaten was... Couldn't possibly answer that! But any meal eaten outside, overlooking the ocean has to be good.

"Got home from work. Took out some prawns to defrost and cooked some onions in the meantime. Used Patak's Jalfrezi sauce. (and a small fresh chilli from a plant.) Result? Lovely. This is a great recipe - substitute the prawns for anything at all - vegetarian or otherwise. It doesn't seem like really "cooking" but it actually is. And the result is very tasty. And despite this lengthy review, it is simple and easy and pretty quick to do. (as long as you have some "basic" ingredients of course!) "

"Okay, having read the many comments on lack of flavour, and the things that people added, I decided to use this recipe as a base and use what I had available. While the onion was softening (which always takes much longer than quoted), I marinated the chicken in the dry spices - and used more spice than the recipe quotes and also added some chilli. I added garlic, sun-dried tomatoes and some chopped piquant peppers, and also added some rice. And instead of spinach, which I don't like, I added some cavolo nero, which worked out brilliantly. Result? Delicious! Fresh, lemony, one-pot goodness for a Wednesday evening. You have to love the comments sections on these recipes - they really are useful I find. "

    Flourless chocolate & pear cake

"I think the photo for this was taken from the top for a reason! The thing won't rise. Mine looked just like this too - but only from the top. From the side it looked like a biscuit. I didn't add the pears straight away, but it didnt make any difference, the results were tasty but stodgy. I have cooked and commented on many many recipes here, mostly in a very positive way, but I honestly think there is something wrong with this recipe. "

"Very tasty and very easy. I used "portobello" size mushrooms (which I must admit, I thought were the same as "large field mushrooms" but apparently not. Anyway, they took a good 23 minutes to cook. But that's a minor detail, it was a success overall. "
