Ultimate chocolate cake
959 comments
"Well what a FANTASTIC cake!! Such a lovely texture and the taste was incredible. I made it for my sisters 39th birthday and normally my cakes are a disaster but not this time!! I spent a considerable amount of time choosing this recipe and read a lot of the reviews. I used two sandwich tins, used creme fraiche instead of buttermilk, used half milk and half plain choc for the topping and used 100g less sugar in the cake recipe. Unlike some comments I couldn't even taste the coffee. I have always wanted a trusted chocolate cake and this certainly is it!!! It lasted a few days after the event and was still lovely and moist. It looked incredible when it was finished, my young neice decorated it with smarties and it looked fab!! Give it a try you wont be disappointed! I cant wait for another occasion so I have an excuse to make it again!!! "

Romantic rose cupcakes

"Fabulous tasting buns. Really easy to make too. I found making the roses very fiddly and resorted to one rose and two leaves on each bun which looked just as effective. I have to admit my boyfriend had to make them as he has more patience than me! Made them for Mother's day which was thoroughly enjoyed by all. They looked so dainty, used normal bun cases though and not muffin cases as mentioned in a previous review. "

Goat's cheese, potato & onion tart

"I made the quiche for Mother's Day lunch and it was simply delicious. Thoroughly enjoyed by my Mum and the rest of the family. I cooked the pastry the night before to save time the next day and this worked well for me. So simple to make, yet so tasty. I took the advise on the fresh thyme which I agree with, added to the flavour. I also used red onions instead normal white ones. Definitely make it again, and would recommend to friends."
