Rhubarb & custard pie with butter crumble

    Tested

"This was great. I made it for dessert after a spicy chilli con carne and it went down a treat. Made my own pastry case and I also doubled the topping mix. I only had Apple and Blackberry flavoured oat-so-simple porridge in the house so used it and it added a lovely flavour to the whole pie! I would probably do that again."

"Made these last night and they were soooo good. I took a bit out of the centre and put in some lemon curd to add to the flavour. Lovely and light. Thought the amount of frosting was fine, what's a cupcake without a mountain of icing!! My very fussy boyfriend gave his seal of approval."

Vietnamese lamb shanks with sweet potatoes

    Tested

"This is a beautiful dish. Made it in my slow cooker over about 8 hours and served it to friends for a casual dinner with rice. Very easy to do in advance and the flavours were so good, even better the next day. I've got one stashed away in the freezer for a rainy day as well. I'll do this one again and again!"

    Rib-eye steak with basil hollandaise

    Tested

"Oh this really was delicious I have to say. Made this for Valentine's dinner and it was really easy to do and the hollandaise was to die for. I made it in advance and set it in a bowl of barely warm water then heated it gently over a pan with simmering water when I needed it. Totally scrummy and felt special enough for valentines."

"Made this recipe for my boyfriend's 30th birthday with 20 guests. I used a rectangle 25x35cm pan, doubled the recipe and cooked it for just under 1 hour at the suggested temp. Covered it in rolled fondant to make it into a poker table. It is one of those cakes that just gets better and better the longer you leave it. I made it on Thursday, its now Tuesday and I've brought what's left into work and it's still moist and delicious. One thing I would say is that I tried a bit from the corner and it was slightly dry - so make sure you coat the entire cake in the vanilla syrup, I think I missed a bit!! Even my friend, who hates sweet stuff, said this was delicious and asked would I make it for his wedding!!! I'll use this recipe from now on."
