"for any French speakers, I do know how to spell 'mere' but this site doesn't recognise the accent of the e and has replaced it with the correct sound."

Slow-roast chicken

"I have made this before - it's a French recipe 'Poulet grand-mère'! Only real difference is the use of lardons. We are having chicken tonight so will try this out and rate afterwards."

"Made this so many times last year to use up our glut of 'gardeners delight' tomatoes and nobody got tired of it! We all took it to work/school for lunch, took some to friends and family, great for light lunches with salad and for pincnics. Very quick and easy to make, fantastic appearance and a real taste of summer! My tomatoes were like little cherry tomatoes so just halved them didn't slice. Didn't use the mascarpone every time either - not missed at all! Delic. hot or cold. (Will be making my own pesto this year as well) Will def. be making again this year, can't waite for my tomatoes to ripen!!! "

Carrot cake with cinnamon frosting
62 comments
"This is a lovely moist recipe! I didn't make the frosting because I felt there was enough sweetness/calories in the cake recipe and it was not missed. Made a double mix, the first cake was taken to my mum's for a family afternoon tea. The texture of the second one was unbelievably even better the next day. My teenage kids were not keen when I told them it was 'carrot' cake but they couldn't get enough once they had tried it! This is another 'GoodFood' addition to our family favourites list and I will probably use this recipe for the next scouts cake sale."

"Yummy!! Rated it a 5 because I adapted this recipe for the ingredients I had to hand; didn't have any ricotta so just made the usual white cheesy sauce for lasagne and used homemade tomato suace instead of a jar. Soaking the lasagne sheets was brill. - have experienced crispy pasta sheets on the corners before now - not nice. My eldest boy who doesn't like veg thought it was great and would have it again - another good result! Hadn't thought of making a courgette lasagne before, it helped to use up a glut of courgettes from the garden and I'll need to make it again next week to make the best of a bumper crop this year!"
