"Just made this with my kids - which was quite a lot of fun. I used ready rolled icing which made it really easy to cover the cake and then pinch the folds at the bottom. Brown colouring was made by mixing red and green and a bit of yellow we had. It all got a bit runny/messy but adding icing sugar to the mix firmed things up ok. We now have 3 very dopey looking robins sitting on our cake - but they're kinda cute :)"

"Very easy, quick and filling but I agree with everyone else - too lemony. More herbs & less lemon next time. I tripled the recipe up for six people, and I think that maybe where I went wrong. I'm looking forward to trying it again though. "

"Ridiculously easy to make. Halfway through I was worried there weren't enough leeks and added some more, and they went just as soft and tender as the rest. It's a really good Sunday lunch - put it in, go for a decent walk, come back and it's done. "

"This is REALLY easy to make. In fact the hardest thing is lining the cake time properly! It also took nearer two hours until it was cooked - but cakes always seem to take longer than stated in my oven. It looks and smells fabulous...but I can't tell you how it tastes yet because it's for our Christmas Cake so...25 days and counting :) (PS - I'd like to feed it brandy too - anyone tried this?)"

"I've just made this again - and it's still brilliant! I didn't need much orange juice at all, and it was still not quite dry enough when it came to rolling it out, so I kneaded in a bit more icing sugar and it worked well enough, with bits left over to patch the holes/cracks. It tastes great, and is really easy to make :) "
