"Put 3 stars and i think i was being generous. That's not being harsh its just that when you see ratings so high and read the words almondy and bakewell you expect just that. The cake is easy to make and very moist and not a bad cake just not what its is purported to be. No taste of almonds whatsoever. Shame i was really looking forward to this. Suggestion to all who agree would be to use almond essence in place of vanilla. I will give it another go using this substitute and hope for the best."

"Just done this and it was very nice indeed! Did not use the butter cream as i used fresh whipping cream instead. It took about another 6mins or so in our oven but thats our oven for ya. Very moist! Oh and i added a few drops of vanilla essence to both the mixture and the cream."

"Loved this. NOt much for words but the reason i try these recipes is based on other peoples reviews and i am sure others do the same. So give it a go its just as good the day after...so says my wife."

"I made this for my wife and she really liked it as did i. We had some left over which we froze and had in pepers the following week. I used the chocolate and used pinto beans instead of kidney. Will be making this again for sure!"
