"Ran out of honey halfway through and topped it up with sweet chilli sauce, which worked very well. The family really enjoyed it and we'll have it again for sure....."

"Followed the comments and left out the cheese. Used fresh chillies and fresh coriander. Also made mine slightly too spicy and added youghurt. A lovely thick soup, best enjoyed with thick homemade bread."

"The original Thai version of this dish adds garlic, 1 Tbsp fish sauce and 2tsp sugar to the mix. Thai fish sauce is pungent stuff but it really adds a lot of strength to dishes. Always double your oyster sauce to your fish sauce. The sugar balances the whole effect, but if you're worried, add 1tsp first, taste and see if it needs more. This dish should also be fairly heavy on the basil. We haver this with minced beef and steamed rice at least once a fortnight!"

"I followed a lot of the advice, added lemon juice and crushed chillies with extra coriander and cumin, and the family loved them. Ifilled pita bread with salad, placed these inside and topped it with tzatziki......lovely!"

"Another low fat option is to fry them in a non-stick pan. As long as you keep an eye on them, they'll brown nicely and lose the oiliness."
