"A friend recommended this recipe to me and wow - all everyone kept talking about was how moist it was. I used the chocolate buttercream as a base for my fondant overing as a celebration cake - will definately be staying in my favourites!!!!"

"How can anyone say this is not a good recipe - it may not be the most complex or use a vast array of ingredients but it is very effective. Its an easy and cheap meal whatever way you use this recipe and I would recommend anyone to give it a try for themselves and not pay any heed to some of the comments already made!!!!!"

"There is not a lot more else to say after reading the other comments. I have used this recipe since seeing it in Good Food magazine - scones are my husbands favourite and I am now not allowed to use any other recipe than this. I have now also passed it on to my Mum and after 30 years of using her original receipe is using this one too!"

"As a novice sponge maker - this was dead easy but looked amazing. Like the comment above I added fresh stawberries to the cream filling and on top and it made it a really special but simple cake."
