"Quite simply the best chocolate cake we've ever made, rich and scrumptious and failproof. Really nice with mocha buttercream instead of ganache, to pick up its coffee kick."

"Given its high rating, this was a bit disappointing - bland-ish, and the drizzle was less than impressive. It was moist and nice enough, if you need something quick and easy. Suggest doubling the lemon zest and/or adding lemon oil."

"Impresses everyone when you bring it out - it looks really lovely, and the white chocolate ganache and fresh cherry filling (we used brandy rather than kirsch) is so much more delicious than shop-bought jam and cream."

"Very grownup cake - delicious and showy for special occaisions. We accidentally left out the muscavado sugar the first time and decided it was a happy accident, as the result was just the right level of sweetness. As earlier comments suggest, use a square tin rather than a loaf tin. We drizzled a simple glaze of icing sugar and brandy over it as a finishing touch."
