"Made this for mum's 50th birthday dinner and went down a storm with some whipped cream and fresh raspberries. As recipe states they are quite resilient, made them the night before a put in the fridge. They're probably did suffer some height loss but still rose and were still delicious! Oh and I halved all the ingredients and it made 3 nicely. Will definitely be making them again, there are rumours that they might make an appearance at Christmas!"

"I make this regularly now and adore it! I roast the butternut with garlic first (or use last nights leftover butternut as I eat a lot of it!) and add some lean bacon or just the medallions from back bacon. Especially great for lunch when I'm working over dinner!"

"Cooked this for mother's 50th birthday and she loved it! Used lightly smoked salmon fillets with spinach in the mascapone which she said was a very nice combo and agreed watercress probably goes better with the unsmoked. I also used jus-rol puff pastry (mistake in the supermarket!) but it worked well. I made it the night before and popped it in the fridge before cooking and it held up well."

Ultimate toad in the hole

"So many recipes don't deserve the title "ultimate" but this does! The batter was amazing and tasted like bacon which was fabulous. To those who complained of "soggy bottoms": Toad in the Hole is meant to be a bit wet on the bottom! It will never crisp up all the way through like a "au natural" Yorkshire. I will be making is again and again that's for sure!"
