"in Europe you can buy tins of nestle condensed milk that they have turned into caramel (like dulche de leche), I used that instead of the caramel recipe, was so quick and easy and tasted great, v rich though!"

"not impressed, tasted disgustingly sugary, definitely need more egg whites and not as good as if cooked in oven. There are no shortcuts to the real thing!"

"Amazingly easy and very impressive, my guests loved them! Don't know how it manages to taste so chocolately with only cocoa. NB it is very sweet so don't put too much sugar with pears, even if very underipe like mine were. Also almond gives it slight marzipan taste (though maybe this is disguised by alcohol if you use it)"
