"Easy and quick (as chutneys go!) and tastes divine with cheddar. Used a mixture of red and green tomatoes. Would perhaps add another or hotter chilli next time to give it a bit more of a kick and slightly less sugar. "

Sweet chilli jam

"I made this for presents last Christmas (2008) and have had so many people asking for the recipe it was a triumph! It did take longer than the recipe states - I used a very large preserving pan so perhaps I'll try a smaller pan next time although I may just quadruple the amount as it went down so well! Just kep on watching it for the last half an hour and tasting to test of course, it will suddenly thicken and be perfect, you'll know when it happens! For the presents I used the smallest size kilner jars but for myself I just re-used a combination of mustard pots and small jam jars and it made about 8 jars in total. Definitely recommended! I got the taste the difference cherry toms from Sainsburys and used my own home grown red chillies, not sure what the variety was but they were anout 5-7cm long and quite fat. Sadly I only managed to produce two peppers though so had to buy these! Give it a try! "

"I did this on a Monday so used left over chicken from Sunday roast shredded. It was really easy and tastes great, filling too. I thought it was even better the next day for packed lunch. I also added some sliced spring onions and quite a bit of pepper to take the tang off the lemon which seemed to work. I probably only used around 10 leaves after reading the previous comment which was plenty and cut the mint up very finely. I may try with coriander instead of mint next time. "

"Very easy to make although I'd put in the food processor next time rather than mashing. Was a very wet mixture but just about held up when cooking. I may try adding some lemon or lime juice as per other suggestions to make it a little more interesting. Went well with chilli jam and yoghurt but not enough wow factor to try again for a while."
