"After reading all the other comments, I feel as though I made a totally different cake to everyone else. I followed the recepe to the letter, although I found that it was cooked within 45 minutes and it fell apart when it came out of the tin. I found this cake vey dry and pretty tasteless."

"The best chocolate cake ever!! I reduced the sugar to 300g instead of 400g on the advice of someones review and it was plenty sweet enough."

"A good economical basic recipe, although as others have said it definitely needs tweaking to stop it from being bland. I had to triple the puree and reduce the amount of milk and add loads of salt and black pepper, next time I will also add another tin of tomatoes. Great baking soda tip though!"

"This is actually the best cake I have ever made... so far. Really tasty and moist. I used the tip of adding extra lemon and it worked well."

"Really great recipe, cheap, quick and easy. I personally prefer a stronger flavour, so I doubled the garlic, cumin and harissa and used corriander instead of parsley."
