Cinnamon Rock Cakes

"Like other people, added the dried fruit just after the sugar, before the eggs and milk. Made double quantity to take some to work tomorrow, but with teenage boys they may not get that far!! Did the whole thing in a food-processor, making them even quicker and easier. Double quantity made 23 good sized buns. Great recipe - thanks for sharing :)"

"Lovely, tasty, and simple. The only change I made was to the sauce: instead of making it in another pan, I used the (already milky) measuring jug and slowly blended the flour into a paste with the remaining milk. This could then be briskly stirred into the hot poaching milk, without the extra addition of the butter, without waiting for things to cool down and without dirtying another pan! "

Serious Steak & Ale Pie

"You may be surprised to know that I made a veggie version of this using a 300g bag of Quorn Beef Strips, and 200g chestnut mushrooms. Of course, I only used veg stock cubes (3), but will reduce this next time as the result was a little too salty, so will add flour next time instead. However, it was a great pie, especially with plenty of mash and cabbage - it certainly kept me and my veggie teenagers happy, as well as my carnivorous husband. Thank you."

"Thanks for this recipe - it's easy and tasty! I have made it a few times now, and occasionally replace 1tbs of the flour for cocoa powder just to make it even more chocolately! A word of warning - if you make this with children, keep a spare tube of Smarties as you're bound to 'lose' a few to eager tummies!"
