"This went down a treat and would definitely make again. Very easy to make. I was a bit worried that the icing sugar made the chocolate taste too sweet but when I served the tart (and after it had sat in the fridge for a couple of hours) it tasted yummy! "

"I never got chance to taste this cake as my husband took the two cakes that I made last night to work with him. i am assured by him and his colleagues that this cake is absolutely delicious and from them starting work at 7.00am this morning, they had eaten both cakes by 8.45am! They've also asked me to make two more! I made this cake in my food processor rather than messing about with a hand mixer and they both rose perfectly. Looks like I will be making this cake on a regular basis!! "

"Despite my earlier comment about the cake being a disaster, I was persuaded by my husband and sons not to throw it away. It was for my middle son's 16th birthday and although I didn't let his friends see it I still served it up and they absolutely loved it, most of them coming back for seconds!! Youngest son has already told me I HAVE to make this cake for his birthday in August. I have to concede that although the presentation was dreadful, the taste was divine! "

"I am a huge Good Food fan and an experienced baker but this cake was a complete disaster and despite the rave reviews I noticed that a few other people have had the same experience. I would say to anyone that unless you can afford to throw away expensive ingredients then don't risk making this cake. I followed the instructions to the nth degree and even went out of my way to buy buttermilk. The cake rose well but when I took it out of the tin there were bits falling off it everywhere, and it was very fragile. I perservered and made the ganache but despite following other reader's tips it didn't thicken up and I'm now left with a very unappealing chocolatey mess. Definitely not worth the money or the effort! "

"My husband and teenage kids loved this. I think its a good basic receipe that you can add to and adapt as you wish. A great dish for feeding a crowd! "
