    Blitz 'n' blend mincemeat

    Tested

"I've made this for a couple of Christmases and it's nicely flavoured with the ginger, pineapple and cherries. I prefer to make my own mincemeat as the shop bought stuff is far too sweet and tasteless and lacks body whilst this is just the opposite! It's quick and easy to make too once you've measured out all the ingredients - just throw them in the processsor. I usually make a large plate tart using pastry flavoured with ground almonds (my late Dad's recipe) on Boxing Day. It's a family favourite but is far too sweet and gooey with commercial mincemeat. "

"Really good soup for a cold winters day. I didn't have any yoghurt so used creme fraiche instead but didn't change anything else. Found it need quite a lot of blitzing witha stick blender to get it really smooth but it was well worth the effort as it was delicious."

"Made this for friends at the weekend and we all thought it was absolutely gorgeous. Thought the slight sweetness of the sauce complimented the venison beautifully. Served it with mashed potatoes (to soak up the sauce!), cabbage and broccoli. Agree with earlier comments that you'd be pushed to serve 8 from it - especially as everyone came back for more. Will try it with beef as well although I think I'll be a bit more conservative with the jelly."

"Nice midweek dish - quick, easy and tasty. Thought the spices were about right and made it nice and fragrant. Next time will add more tomato - perhaps a small tin of chopped tomatoes to make the sauce a bit thicker and a bit more of it."

"Found this to be watery and not particularly tasty. Chopped the chillies small rather than sliced and had difficulty in judging a splash of water so it finished up being a bit watery and not particularly hot. To add insult the yoghurt curdled although I added it off the heat!"
