"Gorgeous, and SO easy! I also melted the butter with the choc. I used Green & Blacks 70% and though it seemed a bit grainy at first, as the egg whites folded in it became very smooth. The result was a really rich, smooth, velvety treat which would make a great dinner party dessert."

"I made this in advance and froze it and it was fine - in fact I think the freezing actually improved it!! Lovely flavours and enjoyed by all. Would make again for a buffet or big party - this amount fed at least 20 for starters and we still had to throw a bit away!"

"Absolutely gorgeous, looks stunning and is actually really easy to make. I served it at our New Year's Eve dinner to huge acclaim. (This quantity easily served 10 people)."

"Have made this for a couple of dinner parties (without the rhubarb). It's really easy, yet looks like you've put in hours of hard work! I also found I needed less black pudding than stated."

"This was the first Christmas cake I made and it's been a great success every year since first published. So simple to put together, although I always find it needs a lot longer in the oven than the recipe suggests - whether cooking by gas or electric."
