Pear & mincemeat crumble cake
19 comments
"I used tinned pears (well drained), mine had three pears in it, it would have been nicer if I'd had the correct quantity. I baked it for an extra ten mins to try to get it to brown in the centre but it didn't really. Even so, the cake was lovely and just a couple of slices leftover. It was moist and delicious."

"Great recipe. I took on board other's suggestions and used 600ml stock and simmered it longer to make the rice drier. Next time I'll probably use chicken thighs instead. The leftovers taste fab and it would be an excellent to make ahead to eat the next day."

Leek, bacon & potato soup

"This was delicious. I omitted the cream but I don't think it needed it and I cut down a little on the stock. Garnished with crushed garlic croutons as I had run out of bacon."

"Turned out well. I made it made it as recipe except for subbing some of the flour with a multigrain flour, I didn't need extra water and it was all eaten in one sitting. Will do again with a few tweaks. Oh, it did need a few extra mins in the oven because I baked it in a loaf pan."

Peking-style noodles

"Average. My family of four voted two for and two against. The sauce was judged too dark because of the soy. Yellow bean sauce is is also known as brown bean sauce or just bean sauce. It can be very salty so be careful with the 2 tsp salt as recommended by this recipe."
