"Made this for lunch today, really tasty. Didn't use Gruyere cheese, I used Bulgarian yellow cheese and I added a few cloves of garlic to the onions and used red wine instead of sherry as it was all I had in. Only disappointing part was that I managed to throw all my leftover soup all over the kitchen, but at least I had a bowl first!"

"I used chorizo instead of sausages as it's hard to find nice ones where I live. Also left out celery and added mushrooms and a handful of black olives. Used half chicken stock and half red wine, also used fresh tomatoes that were in the freezer (from my garden in the summer). Made the roast potatoes with extra garlic and rosemary, which were nice, but I think next time I'd make mash."

"I make something similar, except instead of vinegar, I use 2 tbsp lemon juice instead and dash of extra virgin olive oil and I de-seed my cucumber."

"I've made these a few times and they always come out great! I love the fact that I don't need to mess about with scales measuring out all the ingredients, I just use a pyrex dish. I only put 3 eggs in mine, but they were quite large and came to 200 mls (same amount of milk and flour). I also added a tsp of mustard powder to the batter. I like to eat mine with onion gravy, black pepper, mint sauce and a slice of pickled beetroot - sounds weird, but I love it! :-)"
