"I followed Louise's sggestion and used the Sicilian style sausages from Sainsburys and they worked really well. Made this for a dinner party at someone elses house so made the meatballs and sauce earlier and just gently reheated with the freshly cooked pasta. I imagine it would freeze rather well too. Loved the flavour the sausages added to the mince and liked the texture of using both mince and sausages. There we were certainly no complaints at the table and the recipe for 6 was easily polished off by 4 very happy people!!"

"This recipe is a winner. Easy to make and great for entertaining as it can be made in stages and just assembled at the last minute. Everyone went back for very large seconds and the best thing of all is that it looks amazing when you bring it to the table, a real show piece, yet its very simple. You could easily adapt the amount of sugar you use in the cream filling and change the fruit on the top depending on whats in season."
